Want to Eat Healthy but Budget is Tight?
January 27th, 2012Eating healthy on a budget is actually possible. It however is no secret that most food that can be classified as healthy is expensive. This ranges from your fresh fruits and vegetables to your lean meat and wild or brown rice. In fact, a study was conducted and it showed that the unhealthy fast food such as your baconator, cheeseburger, the list is endless, is cheaper than the healthier food options. This in itself already creates a problem. Instead of eating healthy, because of budget constrains, people end up going for the cheaper, not so healthy options. Now just how can you eat healthy and not break the bank?
One of the things you can do is shop for fresh organic produce and your lean meats at your local farmers’ market. Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to negotiate the price down. You should also buy fruits and vegetables that are in season. The prices of organic produce in season is way less than that which isn’t. Another tip to keeping your budget and still eat healthy is to buy food stuffs in bulk and if you live in an area where the coupon system works, jump on the bus and join many of the coupon-ers! It’s a great way of saving money and still eat what you want with some change too!!
